Work Day No.2

Today is my 2nd work day. Its really very boring to give out flyers. Each time I work, I'll have to give out thousands of flyers, see thousands of faces. Sometimes people gives very stuck up faces, but it doesn't matter. I also get to see some of my friends when I give out flyers, paused work for a little chat, haha. That always brighten the work life. Well, today's work place was Buona Vista, some place where theres many many working adults on their way to work, basically because theres a technopreneur park over there. Well, so I got to the station and had no idea where to give out the flyers, so I just followed the crowd. Its interesting, most of the people walk the same way: over a bridge and to a bus stop. So I just set up my "stall" at the bridge, where many people will pass me by. Bingo, the crowd was fantastic. There was so many people! And they come in batches after batches according to the time of the MRT train arrival. So I just give out and give out and give out. Then its done. Quite simple. Well today is my last day doing this kind of thing. Really left me with some experiences. Well, I also learnt somethings about giving out flyers. First of all, its always good to smile at all times, so others will take your flyer. Then its really important to have quick hands as when a person takes the flyer, it becomes a sort of a chain reaction, the rest behind will take as well. If you aren't quick enough, you might just break the chain and you can't give out. Also, you must really have a sharp vision. To pick out a good spot where theres many people and also to choose people who would take your flyer. Then, your job of giving out flyers would be so much easier. And its always very very good to pray before going into the job. It helps alot. So just 2 days of work, 6 hours of flyers distribution and I am done, $30 in my pocket.

Work Work Work

Today, 27th January 2005, I worked for the 1st time in my whole life. Not that I never work before, but its just that this time I am working for money. Well, started off the work with waking up at 6am, something that I had not done for the past 2 months or so. So it feels very tiring and all... then the friend whom I am suppose to meet for work was late for about 45 minutes... good training for my patience, something that is needed for this job. Oh ya, I am giving out leaflets. What a job... -_-" At first I thought it was an extremely boring job, but as I continued on giving out the leaflets, I discovered the "fun" part to this job. Haha, first of all, I get to see many people, with different faces, sizes, colour, and expressions. Thats interesting. Some people look the same, are extremely fat, gives weird expressions. Well, you never know untill you really experience it. Then throughout the time I was giving out leaflets, I discovered a few interesting things. About 98% of indians will take the leaflets, 2% are those whose hands are full or didn't see me. 50% of chinese will take the leaflets, another 50% simply wave no and give me a stuck up face, don't care about me, hands are full, simply walk away pretending they didn't see me. 40% of malays will take the leaflets, and most of this 40% are malay women who wear tudung. The 60% left simply walk off pretending they didn't see me. Only 10% of caucasians will take the leaflets, the other 90% will simply wave no or didn't see me. Haha, in this job, I also get to see many things. Say while I was giving out the leaflets in Choa Chu Kang, there was this woman selling fried popiah near the MRT station. She was a vendor with no license, so if police come, she's in trouble. So I was giving out leaflets near her, and this was what happened. 7:50:30, woman was sitting down shouting "popiah popiah popiah!!!" 7:50:31, woman holding on to chair and pot running away. If you understood the above, you would discover that it took only 1 second for her to run away. If I had blinked or turn around at that time, I would have thought that she was abducted by aliens. Oh ya, that woman came back and continued selling popiah after half an hour, and seems as if nothing had happened at all. Haha, and I did pretty well too, finished the leaflets pretty fast. Haha, 1st day work experience...

Tongue, Probably The Most Cunning Weapon Ever

What do you use a tongue for? Tasting, talking, getting food stuck between your teeth out, making monkey faces... on and on. The tongue is definitely full of uses. But that doesn't necessarily means its full of good uses. It can be used wrongly too. How? By talking bad. When this happens, the tongue becomes a very poisonous thing. It starts to wagger about insulting people. Thats bad. I mean, what do people get in insulting other people? I don't suppose they get anything. And we must respect other people. Insulting is not respect, definitely. The feeling of being insulted is really terrible. Sometimes its worse when you did not even do a thing then you got insulted. Sounds illogical? Some people do that. No idea why. And some even insult people in their backs, total cowards. Well, I've been taught since I was a very young kid to control my tongue and not insult people or anything, although sometimes I slip, its etched very deeply in my mind. Some people find pride in insulting people, consider it as a skill... well, it is a skill, but er... never mind, leave you to figure that out. I'm not saying you cannot jokingly insult somebody. Its totally fine by me. But take note that there is always a limit for jokes and know your limit. Some people cannot take jokes then just leave them be, don't further agitate them. Another bad thing about this poisonous tongue is the usage of profanities. Profanities means vulgarities. Its bad. Not nice to hear it. I suppose everyone was taught since young not to scold such things. But its very commonly heard. Gives me the image that the person is very unruly. And again, some people find it a sort of pride to scold profanities... huh... -_-" I don't have to talk much about profanities, everyone knows its bad. Then some people gossip too. Gossiping is not good as well. You know, commenting about other people with other people... and its bad comments mind you. No good. Ok, some people might ask me why all the things mentioned above aren't good? Well, if someone is to insult you, scold profanities at you, or gossip about you, would you feel good? I don't need to know the answer. So I suppose its always good to learn to control your tongue and not let it wagger too much untill it becomes a poisonous thing.

To Win Or To Lose

What does winning means to you? This word can be used in many occasions. To win a competition, a fight, a war. All of us know that to win is to beat the guy and then you are declared the winner. Yet, sometimes when we lose, we win as well. And when we win, we lose as well. Let me explain with a little story. Once there were 2 brothers who practised martial arts under the same master. The younger brother was a ruthless person who would go all out to win a fight, while the older brother is merciful. Because of that, the younger one won many competitions while the older one did not. In that way, people thought the younger brother was stronger. However, the younger brother ruthlessness injured many people and the elder one was merciful, and WON many friends. One day, the 2 brothers fought in a competition. Both were equally skilled. Then there was this point when the elder brother could win the match by punching him and injure him, but he showed mercy. The younger one took the opportunity and defeated his brother. Then the younger brother realised that having being showed mercy from injury is just so wonderful and stopped being ruthless. So you get the story? Hope you do. The ultimate winner is the elder brother I think. You don't have to win a match to win something. Lets talk about a war, real fights between friends. So what if we win these? Lives will be LOST, friends will be LOST even if we should win. Understand? Hope you guys do. So I always believe that we should never get into fights or be hardheaded. Come on, just forgive. Whats the point of taking revenge and all? Will it help to solve the problem? It won't. It will only create another problem. Thats why I firmly believe that we should all have a forgiving heart. Some people think they might lose face because they are seen to have lost in a quarrel. But no, no one wins in a quarrel. Both party loses a friend. No one wins anything. So don't let your pride get all over you. Learn to be forgiving for we have been forgiven many a times as well.

Cigarette - The Stick Of Death

Haha, I believe that many people will very much understand what the title is saying. Yes, the cigarette is a stick of death. The most cunning weapon to take a person's life. But why is it that a simple little stick that measures just a few centimetres has the ability to kill somebody? Well, the answer is very simple, its because this stick ain't simple at all. Get what I mean? Many people might be wondering in their minds "Why are you talking about smoking? Do you smoke?" I thought of this topic when I was watching this show and there was this guy smoking and this topic struck me. And I don't and won't smoke. Ok, back to topic. Why did I say that this stick ain't simple? Well, it is made of tabacco, looks harmless, then when you put fire at its tip, it starts to produce smoke that is capable of slowly killing you with all its carbon monoxide and other toxics that can cause diseases such as lung cancer, emphysemea, bronchitis and other other deadly diseases. Does that seem complicated enough? And whats worse, the cigeratte don't just harm you physically, it destroys you mentally, financially, and socially. In simple words, it destroys your whole life. Why do I say that? Ok, first, you light your first stick and you get addicted to it and almost cannot live without it. Then this little bit of tobacco wrapped in paper costs you alot of money and you have to buy them everyday. And lastly, you are harming the health of the people around you when you smoke. Will they like it? They won't if they can think straight. So, let me put this whole thing a little more simpler, this stick is full of negativeness. Ok... I can almost hear some people rebutting saying "When you smoke, you are cool..." Pardon me???? That is the most stupid excuse I have ever heard in my whole life. You call having something that is smoldering by your mouth cool huh? How cool can you get, 100 degrees celcius? Great. So I hope you guys will understand that smoking is nothing but BAD. And next time if anyone offers you a cigarette, just tell them to save it for themselves, you don't want to die early, trust me. If your friend offers you a stick, they ain't your friends, they are just trying to kill you.

Something Light, Something Different

Well, I just took notice that I got comments claiming that my postings are sian... I suppose its time for a little change. Haha, I'm not very sure who is Angela Kwa though... but I suppose its best to make a change when someone post such a comment. My friend Huan Jian also gave the same comment, so I suppose that its really so... And well, Huiyu, I suppose a job as a journalist is one that interests me, haha. So I have went and looked at the blogs of many people and found out that their blogs are somewhat their online diary. Is that what a blog is? Sorry, I don't know. That word is not in the dictionary. And I don't suppose I want to turn my entire blog into a diary. So how do I continue this huh... some people might think that I do not have anything better to do, thats why I posted all this stuff, which to some people, looks like reports-_-" Well, yes, I really have nothing better to do. I have been staying at home for the past 2 months or so, going out only once in a while. This kind of boring life is really turning me crazy. And also, I sort of miss writing. And if I entirely stop contact with proper english, I am afraid that when I go into polytechnic, I won't be able to write properly again. So I just see this blog as an opportunity to kill my time and to write something. I am glad some people like my blog and I will change to satisfy those who don't. In a few months time I will going into a polytechnic, and my preferred course is Mass Comm. Quite an interesting course in my eyes, better than the engineering and science courses. It is quite hard to get into this course though, one needs a result of at least A2 for English in the O'Levels to get in. I tried my best in the O'Levels and can only pray that I will get this A2 and get into this course, and that no one will compete with me, haha. Hm, for something different, maybe I just sort of introduce myself. My real name is Don, born in 1988. Just finished O'Levels, I have alot of time to rest. Other than writing, I like cycling, swimming and basketball. Well, I am really not that into writing but I find that it helps me kill time. Haha. So I guess thats about it. I find today's post quite lame, but its always good to have something different right? Haha.

A Little Crush, A Little Love

Love is always on the lips of people nowadays. Oh this person don't love me, how can you treat me like that... blah blah, just what I always see. Some people on the MSN will always have nicks about love. And I hope you guys will know what kind of love I am talking about. Its the boy girl relationship love. Some people might say "Everybody knows you are talking about that." I just have to make sure. There are many different kinds of love, parents' love, friends love, and others others. But boy girl is the rather common one. Well, no one can escape love. It always finds a way to crawl into the heart of people. I myself is also affected by love. But how do you differentiate between a true love and just a crush? Many people mistakes crush for love. Then they fall into a wrong love. It always miserable to fall into a wrong love. They never work out. Whats worse is that the person gets commited to a love that should never have been there. I hope you guys get what I mean. How to differentiate between crush and love? Well, 1st, before you love somebody, you had better know the person well. Don't start loving someone whom you do not know well enough. Sometimes people are just acting, not showing their true self, so take some time to understand that person deeper. So, well, to answer the question, crush is to fall for somebody whom you do not know very well, love is to fall for someone whom you know very well and knows that you can be together happily. So thats the difference. Crush can be turned into love too. I'll teach you how. Go and be friends with the person 1st. Understand the person deeper. And when you know you truly love each other, then ok loh. Haha, but beware, some people might act just to get you. So if a guy or a girl whom you don't know comes and tell you that they like you, try to be friends 1st, then understand the person. A person who truly loves you will surely wait for you and be friends with you de. Then if all goes well, hope it goes well for you lohz. You know when some guys see a pretty girl, they act cool and all, trying to get the attention of the girl. Well, thats what you have to beware of. When they get you, they turn 180 degrees and becomes another person. So what I say is to know the person, be friends, and when you find you are suitable, then good loh. Don't go jumping into a relationship which you are not clear of. You never know whats at the bottom of a dark pit. So light the pit up and see whats at the bottom before you jump. Haha, hope you guys understand.
